What are the benefits?
Childbirth classes bring a host of benefits to expectant parents. Together with your partner, you'll gain the knowledge you require to make informed decisions about your birth, and the confidence to know that those decisions are right for you. Birth is a natural process and we'll help you trust your body's innate abilities. You'll learn pain management techniques so that wherever and however you choose to birth, you'll be not just ready for the experience - you'll be excited.
In group discussions you'll learn about other people's questions and concerns - including your partner's. For many couples, the birth class is the primary way for dad to get involved during the pregnancy, and he'll learn how to support both mom and the new baby. Hearing about other people's perspectives on birth can be a real eye-opener, and you just might make some new friends on the way.
We cover a wide range of topics, so you'll be ready. Many are focused on you: how it feels to go through the stages of birth, what to do and when to do it, and relaxation and pain management techniques. Others are focused on the process: home births, water births, and hospital transfers. With an understanding of these topics, you'll be ready to embrace birth.
